Sunshine Cup Round 3 - Amathous, Cyprus

The third and final race of the Cyprus Sunshine Cup 2011 took place in a very hot and sunny Amathous. With Ben and Paul in Israel, it was up to Chris and Alex to put in a strong performance and represent the team.

Alex was first off in the Junior men, and after a strong start loop he was tucked in behind first place going into the first lap, a position which he held well, until disaster struck following a crash, breaking his rear gear shifter. This left him to ride singlespeed around a rather hilly course! Not wanting to give up, he railed the descents to put in a strong performance and finish in an excellent 6th place… not bad given the circumstances!

Chris was off next in the Elite men and after a steady start was soon powering round the course, picking off his rivals one by one and feeling happy having completed all 5 laps strongly.

Lee Williams was also out here with the Orange Monkey-Cannondale riders, and had a strong final race finishing not far off the leaders.

Overall it was a strong performance by the team leaving them full of confidence as they head into the British national series in two weeks time!
