Today was always going to be tough after the race in Yokne’am yesterday but as it
was a class 1 race the riders decided to give it a go. Ben was nursing a severely
swollen knee as well as wounds from a practice crash in Cyprus but made a good start
in the strong field of riders on another particularly hot day in northern Israel.
For Paul, things did not start so well – some days riders just have bad legs and
today was one of those days. A full on effort yesterday left the muscles sore and
after two laps seeing if things got better he made the decision to call it a day
and start the recovery process for the big race in Misgav next Saturday.
Ben meanwhile had started to make progress until his chain dropped once again –
this continued throughout the race making it difficult t gain places and whilst
he felt strong he was unable to get into a good rhythm finishing two laps down.
The guys will now look to get the mechanical issues rectified as limited time meant
although they did what they could the problems did not go away.
Next Saturday they will travel further north for the race in Misgav – both riders
are positive after showing some good form albeit for some mechanical issues. For
now its rest and recovery, come Saturday… FULL GAZZ!!!
