With great excitement Chris, Ben & Alex headed to Antwerp, Belgium for the Antwerp
Cup.
After checking in to our hotel in Belgium, we made our way to the race venue. The
race had an interesting setting on the outskirts of Antwerp in the docks. With hard
packed, flowing, technical single track & a few tough obstacles; it was going to
be a fast race.
With late starts for both the junior & men’s elite races, the guys had an easy morning
enjoying a stunning breakfast.
Alex was off first for Orange Monkey-Cannondale, Gridded towards the back at the
start; it was a fast furious stampede to the first corner, with a hard eight laps
ahead Alex made his way through the field at pace, completing the first lap in 17th
place. By lap seven Alex had moved up to 11th & was chasing down 10th. Alex finished
well in 11th, another top 15 in Europe & showing great form.
At 4:20pm Chris & Ben lined up on the grid ready for a strong fielded, hot, sunny,
10 lap race. 4:30pm, their off, Ben made a great start moving through the field
up to 35th, Chris had a much tougher start following a rider who crashed hard off
the start line, which held him up. By lap five the race had split, with a fast group
heading off the front & moving at pace. Ben moved up to 31st at this point with
Chris not far behind now chasing hard. On the final lap Ben was moving fast & finished
a strong 29th. Chris had chased well to make up to 31st by the checkered flag.
Strong results & the team showing great form.
