The second day of the weekend at Crow
Hill saw the hosting of the English Marathon Championships. Our guys were feeling
the effects of yesterdays racing but still with determined attitude took to the
start line for a second day of racing.
Today saw Chris in the 50km senior mens category and Alex, Nat and Ben in the 50km
Junior category. The riders initially started the 12.5km loop together, helping
each other to stay focused and get to the front of the race but as the race progressed
they eventually splintered leaving just Ben and Alex riding together.
Another bad
day, mechanically for Chris saw him drop down the field much to his disappointment
after feeling strong in the morning, he eventually finished in 30th position. After
two laps down, Ben made the move on Alex pulling out a gap and finishing in an excellent
2nd position picking up his 2nd podium of the weekend. Alex started feeling the
strain and dropped to 5th but considering he was riding up in the Junior ranks this
was an impressive display. Meanwhile Nat had been plodding away and finished in
3rd, another excellent result from the improving monkey!
Once again, the team showed tremendous character and proved that we are progressing
nicely!
