After some promising results recently the team took off to Thetford in high spirits with only training in mind and getting some good testing in before the season kicks off in April.  It was the first time that a race had been held at High Lodge and it was a great setting with a fantastic atmosphere in the arena.

As it was Will’s birthday weekend, Norris had given him the day off from racing, but he was there to encourage and support from the sidelines as the 4 hour Men’s race got underway.  It was clear that Paul was testing his legs early on as he went from the gun and joined the lead group, from which, he and one other rider created a gap of around a hundred meters from the chasing riders.  This was cut short by some unusual but very intense back pain and Paul decided enough was enough after 4 laps and called it a day.  It was much the same story for Graham who also had a good start and was floating in the top 15 – 20 riders before knee pain also put paid to his race after just 4 laps.

In the 2hr Junior race our two youngsters made a great start but Nat could last just an hour and a half with the head cold he had been carrying all week and unfortunately had to abandon much to his disappointment.  This left just Alex who had his head down for the full 2 hours and never looked back as he stormed to a second place finish.

In the 2hr Senior Men’s race, Mark showed us he was preparing well for his upcoming Time Trial events by taking a top 20 finish back to the jungle with a solid performance!

It could be perceived that Orange monkey had a bad day at the office but all the signs were promising of an excellent season ahead with all 6 riders starting to pick up form ready for a full-on assault this season!
