Three years ago, two Orange Monkey’s turned up to compete in the Thetford Winter Series wearing their Orange T shirts and a big grin.  This weekend, their were five Orange Monkey’s wearing orange T shirts and a big grin.  Orange Monkey Cycling Team has come on leaps and bounds over the past few years and are now not only competing for places but creating the kind of attention that makes Team Manger, Norris, one happy Monkey indeed.

The team embarked on the new MTB season this weekend at Thetford Forest in a stronger position than ever before.  Yes they were there to turn heads, yes they were there to have fun and YES they were there to get results, and that they did with Nat Jarvis and Alex Baker of our Youth Development Scheme taking 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 2 hour Junior race.  For Nat, this was a career best result and one that shows the strides he has made since joining Orange Monkey.  For Alex, it was another good result and another stepping stone as this was his first race over 2 hours.

Mark has been a consistent performer for Orange Monkey over the past few years and again he came up with a solid performance finishing 22nd in a field of around 170 in the 2 hour Men’s race.  Will and Graham were the two Monkey’s entered in the 4 hour Men’s race and Will came up with an excellent 10th place hopefully showing what we can expect to come from him for the coming season.  Graham put in another solid performance as he looks to build ready for the start of the cross country season finishing in an excellent 21st place.

It was a great start to the new season for Orange Monkey and a sign of the good things to come from a team climbing the trees and picking the bananas off one by one.
