Race Report!

 

Dragon XC Series Rd 1 – Coed-Y-Brenin, Wales

Paul Beales		1st		Elite
Will Cooper		8th		Expert

 

Paul and Will took the long trip to North Wales for the first round of the Dragon series at Coed-Y-Brenin and what a fantastic move it turned out to be as Paul took his first win in his first Elite race!  It was a dream start to the season for Paul but reflecting after the race he admits that he is under no elusions how hard the Elite category is going to be throughout the season especially when the NPS series start in April.

There was a poor turn out of Elites but as they start together with the expert rider Paul quickly established a lead at the head of the race and was soon joined by Expert rider Chris Andrews.  The two of them forged a huge gap but Chris punctured on the first lap leaving Paul to comfortably go on to take the win and most importantly maximum points!

Climbing the rocky ascents at Coed-Y-Brenin…

 

Will had a steady race as he makes his way back from a virus that has interrupted his winter training and he did well to finish the race in a good position giving him valuable points as he hunts down his Elite license!
